Jay Dungeni

Deputy Chief Nurse, Executive Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Jay is  the current chair of theCNO England Ethnic Minorities Advisory Collaborative, working with leaders advising and collaborating with Dame Ruth May and the NHS England Nursing andMidwifery senior leadership team on issues affecting the global majority staff in the health and social care sector.

 Jay qualified as a adult general nurse in 2001 and has worked in the NHS for 25years (and counting) mainly in the London area. With an eclectic leadership background in the NHS, he has enjoyed roles spanning clinical, operational, programmes, corporate governance, and strategy.  Jay has a passion for championing and advocating for equity, inclusion and belonging for staff as well as patients in the NHS.  He takes pride in playing his part in coaching and mentoring current and future leaders through his own ‘Pay It Forward’ scheme which has benefited staff with their developmental needs across many industries. Outside of work Jay enjoys playing lawn tennis when he can and is an LTA accredited coach, something that gives him a different kind of busy at the weekends.
